Java Engineer - 925

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable software solutions for portfolio accounting and management using Java.
• Collaborate with business analysts, portfolio managers, and other stakeholders to understand and implement portfolio accounting requirements.
• Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and efficiency of portfolio data processing and reporting.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code that meets both technical and business requirements.
• Conduct unit tests and participate in peer code reviews to ensure the quality of the software.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to financial data and portfolio calculations.
• Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and technologies in both Java development and financial accounting.

Your skills, experience, and qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• 5-8 years of experience in Java development, with a focus on financial software or portfolio management systems.
• Solid understanding of portfolio accounting concepts, including positions, transactions, cost basis, reconciliation and performance.
• Experience working with financial databases and large datasets (e.g., SQL, Oracle).
• Familiarity with APIs, RESTful services, and data integration from third-party vendors.
• Knowledge of the software development life cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
• Experience with version control systems like Git and build tools like Maven or Gradle.
• Preferred Qualifications:
• Strong understanding of financial instruments (equities, bonds, derivatives, hedge funds, private equity) and investment lifecycle processes.
• Familiarity with portfolio accounting, performance attribution and risk analytics.
• Knowledge of cloud services like AWS or Azure.
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, especially when dealing with complex financial data.
