We are seeking a skilled Java developer to join our IBM Software team as Product Operations Lead for the Red Hat build of Apache Camel product. In this role you will understand how customers use the product to amplify the user experience throughout the development cycle. You will work directly with product management and engineering leadership to deliver data-driven customer insights. You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining high-quality software products working with a variety of technologies.

- Collaborating with product management and engineering leadership on defining the direction of the product.
- Triaging new customer issues weekly.
- Tracking customer usage trends and providing analysis to leadership.
- Acting as a high-level subject matter expert for debugging/troubleshooting and resolving product-related issues during critical customer situations or escalations.
- Providing technical review of support exceptions.
Helping define product lifecycle with product management and engineering leadership. - Maintaining customer-facing product release and patch documentation.
- Assist with the design development and optimization of the product.
- Collaborate with the Apache Camel community to shape roadmap priorities.
- Mentor other engineers and review code for quality scalability and maintainability.
- Represent the team in internal and external forums advocating for best practices and community engagement.
- Advanced Java proficiency: 10+ years of hands-on experience with Java development with strong expertise in modern Java (preferably Java 17+)
- Enterprise Integration Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of messaging systems transactional systems and Enterprise Integration Patterns.
- In depth experience with Apache Camel.
- Customer focus:
- Must have experience working directly with customers and also with customer support staff.
- Experience using data analysis to identify customer trends.
- Ability to work in a geographically distributed team:
- Proven ability to work with a highly distributed development team using open source development methodologies and tools.
- Cloud-Native Application Fundamentals:
- Hands-on experience or strong conceptual understanding of containerized application development (Docker Kubernetes).
- Experience with Quarkus and/or Spring Boot.
- Contributions to open source projects particularly in the Java integration or cloud-native space.
- Experience with Red Hat Middleware products.
