LABORER - STREETS

The City of Bellaire is seeking a skilled and motivated Laborer to join our Streets and Drainage crew within our Public Works Department. Performs semi-skilled and manual labor related to the maintenance and repair of streets, roadways, and traffic control systems. LABORER - STREETS functions include but are not limited to the following: • Roadway Maintenance and Repair: • Assist in the maintenance and repair of roadways, including pothole filling, crack sealing, and surface patching. • Traffic Signage Maintenance: • Support the installation and replacement of traffic signs, signals, and road markings. • Perform routine inspections and minor repairs on traffic control devices to ensure proper functioning. • Storm System Maintenance: • Clear debris from storm sewer and grates, adjusting/replacing manhole ring and covers. • Assist Equipment Operator with line cleaning and televising • Safety and Training: • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and use appropriate personal protective equipment. • Respond to emergency situations and assist with traffic management during road incidents or construction activities. • Participate in ongoing training and development to stay current with best practices and safety standards. • Contribute to the team effort by performing other related duties as assigned. Education and Experience– An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. Education:High School Diploma or GED Experience: No previous relevant work experience is required. Supervisory:No previous supervisory experience is required. Certifications/Licenses:None
