Machine Operator

Machine Operation & Production • Operate meat processing equipment such as grinders, slicers, packaging machines, and conveyors according to established procedures. • Monitor equipment performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain optimal production speed and product quality. • Ensure correct machine setup, including calibration, blade changes, and feed adjustments, at the start of each shift or product changeover. Quality Control & Food Safety • Inspect products for quality and consistency, ensuring they meet company and USDA specifications. • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) procedures at all times. • Report any product defects, contamination risks, or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor immediately. Maintenance & Troubleshooting • Perform basic preventive maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication of machinery. • Assist maintenance personnel in troubleshooting and repairing equipment when needed. • Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent cross-contamination and ensure worker safety. Safety & Compliance • Comply with all OSHA, USDA, and company safety policies and procedures. • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, aprons, hairnets, and safety glasses. • Participate in safety training and report any unsafe conditions or near misses. Qualifications Required: High school diploma or equivalent (GED). • 1+ year experience in machine operation, preferably in food or meat processing. • Ability to read, understand, and follow production schedules, SOPs, and safety guidelines. • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. • Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in cold, damp environments. Preferred: • Knowledge of HACCP and GMP requirements. • Experience with automated meat cutting, grinding, or packaging equipment. • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills a plus. Work Environment • Cold temperatures (40°F–48°F) in refrigerated processing areas. • Wet, noisy environment with exposure to raw meat and cleaning chemicals. • Shift work, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed. Physical Requirements • Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions. • Ability to lift and carry materials up to 50 lbs regularly. • Standing for up to 8–10 hours per shift.
