Your Role and Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mainframe Storage Expert with a minimum of 18 years of hands-on experience in architecting transforming and optimizing mainframe storage environments. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of storage migration strategies between IBM Hitachi and Fujitsu platforms along with in-depth expertise in DS8K and TS7700 storage systems. A strong foundation in zCloud technologies business continuity disaster recovery and IBM Copy Services is essential for this role.
Responsibilities

• Provide strategic storage consulting services to clients assessing their storage infrastructure and recommending modernization plans.
• Architect and implement complex storage solutions including virtualization consolidation automation and disaster recovery strategies.
• Lead and execute large-scale storage migration projects ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
• Perform in-depth performance analysis and tuning to optimize storage utilization and I/O performance.
• Develop and implement data retention disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
• Evaluate and recommend new storage technologies and solutions to meet evolving business needs.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging storage technologies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver successful projects.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Minimum of 18 years of hands-on experience in mainframe storage administration and architecture.
• Proven expertise in storage migration projects between IBM Hitachi and Fujitsu platforms (At least one hands-on experience in migrating from one vendor to another)
• In-depth knowledge of DS8K and TS7700 storage systems including hardware and software components.
• Strong understanding of mainframe operating systems (z/OS) and storage subsystems.
• Experience with storage virtualization technologies (e.g. z/OS DFSMS HyperSwap).
• Proven ability to architect and implement complex storage solutions.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong project management and organizational abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• In-depth knowledge of business continuity and disaster recovery planning and implementation.
• Expertise in IBM Copy Services and data replication technologies.

Good to have

• Deep understanding of storage performance metrics and analysis tools.
• Experience with storage capacity planning and forecasting.
• Knowledge of storage security best practices.
• Familiarity with storage compliance regulations (e.g. GDPR CCPA).
• Understanding of emerging storage technologies

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Certifications in IBM storage technologies.
• Experience with cloud storage platforms (e.g. IBM Cloud Object Storage zCloud).
• Knowledge of storage automation and scripting (e.g. REXX JCL).
• Understanding of ITIL frameworks and methodologies.
