Rhoads Metal Works, Inc. is a fourth-generation company founded in 1896 servicing the Delaware Valley Tri-State area for over 128 years. We are a leading industrial and institutional mechanical maintenance contractor with a large fleet of field service crews, and a fully equipped custom fabrication shop located in Pennsauken, NJ.
Role Overview
We are currently looking to hire several full-timeMAINTENANCE MECHANICStosupport our growing business and offer our customers the highest quality and customer service.The Maintenance Mechanic position is responsible for successfully and accurately completing assigned jobs at a variety of our industrial and/or institutional customers’ facilities. These jobs could include rigging/erecting, pipe fitting, change outs of mechanical equipment, general facilities repairs, weld repairs, and installation of components fabricated by our shop. The duration of jobs varies from multiple partial-day jobs to jobs that last multiple weeks at a time. The ideal candidates should have a broad skill pack in all facets of industrial and mechanical maintenance, exhibit problem solving skills, and have a keen eye for the overall quality of the finished product.
Responsibilities
• Receive job assignments from internal Account Managers.
• Review job assignment documents including written scopes of work, drawings, and diagrams to understand the full extent of the job, and confirm all materials, components, hardware, and equipment are present to complete the job accurately and on-time.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area, abiding by all applicable Customer and RMW SOP’s.
• If obstacles arise during installation, develop and propose an alternative solution to the Account Manager and/or RMW management for their review and approval.
• Confirm that each job is completed accurately and that the work area is clean and presentable for Customer’s final inspection.
• Accurately post working hours to specific job(s) using our mobile App.
• Rare but occasional long distance or overnight travel for specific projects.
• Typically, you will work an 8-hour shift between the hours of 6:00 am and 4:30 pm. However, those hours are subject to change occasionally and without warning depending on time needed to complete certain jobs, or Client demands. Your wage can be subject to overtime, double time, differential, and prevailing rates accordingly.
Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in an industrial and/or institutional mechanical maintenance positionrequired.
• Thorough understanding of mechanical means & methods; including structural steel components, conveying systems, ventilation systems, food manufacturing equipment, piping systems, welding, and fabricationrequired.
• Welding experiencerequired.
• Must know how to read and comprehend drawings and technical specifications.
• Pipe fitting and welding experience preferred.
• Millwright and rigging knowledge and abilities preferred.
• Sanitary/process pipe welding with back purge experience preferred.
• Experience with ductwork and ventilation systems preferred.
• Must have strong communication skills and be detail oriented.
• Excellent time management abilities.
• Ability to work both alone and in a crew of multiple mechanics.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment.
• Analytical problem solver.
• Current US Driver’s License and clean driving record.
• Pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.
• Comfortable with a professional, polished appearance.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to complete strenuous physical tasks and lift over 40lbs.
• Must be comfortable climbing tall ladders, and comfortable with heights.
• Ability to lift, bend, twist, walk, and reach frequently.
• Ability to work in a variety of environments that involve dirt, odors, noise, and temperature extremes.
