JD/Finish Line's Manager of Database Administration will lead a dynamic team that designs and develops database systems. This includes maintaining and supporting our database environment by providing input regarding company data standards and practices, database tuning, performance optimization, software patches, upgrades, and database monitoring. Technical expertise and strong leadership are required to effectively communicate and facilitate cross-functional collaboration with stakeholders in other business units to determine their data needs.The Manager of Database Administration will effectively exhibit JD Finish Line's core values of Customer, People, Winning, Community, and Financial Responsibility in everything they do by performing the following main duties:
- Create and advise standard design and development policies for database development activities.
- Ensure managing, monitoring, capacity, security, and continuous optimization of database systems for performance reliability.
- Facilitate database solutions based on technical documents and business requirements.
- Improve team automation for database functions, scripts, stored procedures and triggers to support application development.
- Provide technical assistance to resolve all database issues.
- Ensure data integrity and quality in database systems.
- Develop and grow the database team skills to align with the current and future database needs of our company.
- Prepare documentation and cross-functional communications regarding system performance reporting, database design, configuration, change management, and issue resolution.
- Secure database by developing policies, procedures, and controls.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; and participating in professional organizations.
- Additional duties and projects as required.

- Education and/or Experience: This position requires a Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in a related field and 5 - 7 years' experience as an Application or Systems Engineer or similar role in a medium to large enterprise.
- Technical Skills: Must have a thorough understanding of Database Platforms, MongoDB, Oracle and SQL querying, and Shell Scripting also requires working knowledge of programming.
- Communication Skills: Ability to read and understand documents such as operating instructions, procedural manuals. Ability to develop the technical and soft skills for the team Ability to write routine reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and effectively respond to questions via telephone, email, written communications, and in person.
