Job Description:

The Manager of Test Engineering is responsible for the strategy, planning, and execution of application testing, resource planning and management of test resources at O.C. Tanner. The role requires strong understanding of software development and test processes and the importance of quality in a high profile environment. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader, strong collaborator, and have experience in leading teams of testers in a performance-based culture of engineering and innovation.

As the Manager of Test Engineering, you will report to the Director of Test Engineering, and will lead a team of tester ranging in experience from interns to Sr. Test Engineers. You will work closely with your peers in software engineering, DevOps, SecOps and others. You will work closely with the other Managers of Test Engineering and the Director of Test Engineering to further the company objectives to deliver high quality software to support companies appreciate their employee's efforts. This position requires an obsessive focus on test engineering principles using the right tools at the right time in the right way. An emphasis on automation will be necessary to support our objective to deliver in a CI/CD environment.

Responsibilities:

• Execute on the vision of Test Engineering best practices
• Communicate and manage expectations of delivery within software engineering
• Develop relationships with peer managers across product management, UX design, technology and client success
• Ability to influence direct reports, peers and leadership
• Raise awareness and support implementation of advancement in testing tools and best practices
• Support hiring, development and succession plans for team.
• Debug, model and characterize product performance and scalability
• Create and maintain documentation on test and development operations
• Provide detailed test planning including scope, resources and timelines

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• (Required) 5+ years experience with test automation tools
• (Required) 2+ years experience of load and performance testing
• Experience with version control systems such as Git/GitHub
• Experience with issue tracking systems such as Jira
• Proficient at leveraging CI/CD tools to automate testing and deployment
• Experience in SaaS solutions in a cloud environment such as AWS, Google Cloud or MS Azure
• Proven ability to create and maintain automation test frameworks
• Ability to lead test engineers across multifunctional teams
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to articulate complex topics to non-technical audiences
• Ability to document solutions and train others on supportability
