                                                                           Manager, Software Development

POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Director of Software Development on our team, you will be working on our ground-breaking solutions that help companies increase their supply chain visibility and mitigate risk from predictive intelligence delivered through our platform. Your impact will be evident through your effective participation in the entire lifecycle of our software including design, analysis, prototyping, development, testing and support of our products. You will work closely with all on-shore, near-shore and off-shore members of the Engineering team to help manage, coach, oversee development efforts and provide clear direction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct multiple teams, setting policies, strategies and department goals
  • Manage and collaborate on team planning, priorities, and deliverables using Agile methodologies
  • Facilitate software estimation, scheduling, planning, design, implementation, and closeout activities while employing best software development practices and adhering to relevant company and industry standards
  • Drive the balance between evolving technical requirements with fixed budgets and schedules while mitigating and communicating risks and options to leadership in a timely fashion
  • Facilitate internal communication and effective collaboration, providing incremental and overall updates to status and condition of software product progress
  • Be a point of contact for external communications (e.g. from customers or stakeholders)
  • Work closely with Product Management to maintain and prioritize roadmaps, strategic direction, team structures and backlogs
  • Mentor developers and coach all team members in Agile development principles and software development best practices
  • Resolve conflicts and remove impediments
  • Help leaders and teams implement changes effectively and efficiently
  • Ensure deliverables are up to quality standards
  • Guide development teams to higher development efficiency and agility
  • Help build a productive environment where team members ‘own’ the product and enjoy working on it

 

 Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of managing and leading large global software development teams
  • 10+ years of software development experience building scalable client facing applications with AWS
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience leading and working in Agile teams
  • Experience with modern software development practices such as CI/CD, TDD, and DevOps
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with on-site and remote teams
  • Experience meeting business needs with deliverables under tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with OWASP

 

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Experience with modern Python web development experience including Django, Celery, Postgresql, Redis
  • Experience with front-end web development experience, including HTML5, CSS / SASS, React, Nextjs
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Linux / Ubuntu
  • Experience with microservices and evented architectures.
  • Geospatial / GIS experience
  • Domain experience in Supply-Chain and/or the Transportation industry
