Manual Horizontal Boring Mill Operator

Job Summary: We are looking for a skilled and experiencedManual Horizontal Boring Mill Operatorto set up and operate horizontal boring mills to perform precision machining on large or complex parts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manual machining, excellent blueprint reading skills, and the ability to work independently to meet tight tolerances and deadlines. Key Responsibilities: • Set up and operate manual horizontal boring mills to perform boring, facing, drilling, milling, and tapping operations. • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions to determine machining specifications. • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators. • Align and secure workpieces using clamps, fixtures, and measuring devices. • Monitor machine operations and make necessary adjustments to tools, speeds, and feeds. • Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards and tolerances. • Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety protocols. • Perform routine maintenance on machines and tooling as needed. • Collaborate with team members, including engineers and quality inspectors, to resolve machining issues. Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or apprenticeship in machining preferred. • 3+ years of experience operating manual horizontal boring mills (G&L, Lucas, or similar). • Strong understanding of machining practices, materials, and cutting tools. • Proficient in using precision measuring tools and interpreting GD&T. • Ability to work from complex blueprints and engineering drawings. • Good mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. • Ability to lift heavy parts and stand for extended periods. • Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
