- Administer monitor and maintain Netezza / PureData systems in production and non-production environments.
- Perform daily health checks capacity management backup and recovery operations.
- Manage and tune system performance identify bottlenecks and apply optimizations.
- Plan and execute software upgrades patches and firmware updates.
- Troubleshoot and resolve incidents ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
- Automate routine administrative tasks using shell scripting and other tools.
- Collaborate with application infrastructure and data engineering teams for deployment and performance optimization.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation to support production systems.
- Maintain documentation for configurations processes and operational procedures.
- Support database migrations and integration projects involving multiple database platforms.
- Strong hands-on experience with IBM Netezza / PureData administration and troubleshooting.
- Proficient in Linux system administration and shell scripting (bash/ksh).
- Strong understanding of database concepts performance tuning and query optimization.
- Experience with backup/recovery strategies and disaster recovery planning.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
- Experience in working in mission-critical 24/7 environments.
- Excellent problem-solving analytical and communication skills.
- Exposure to other database technologies such as DB2 Oracle SQL Server PostgreSQL MariaDB MongoDB etc.
- Knowledge of ETL tools (e.g. DataStage Informatica) and data warehousing concepts.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g. Grafana Nagios OEM or similar).
- Experience in scripting or automation frameworks (Python Ansible etc.) is a plus.
