Nurse Intern
Optional role for those accepting Mercy licensed nurse positions
Department: Various
Status: Full-Time (36 hrs/wk); Part-Time (24 hrs/wk)
Shift: Days or Nights
Rate of Pay: $25.00/hour, No shift differentials

Many new grads want to get started as soon as possible. You can do that here at Mercy! You now have the option to start in your unit as a Nurse Intern after graduation and before taking/passing NCLEX.
Once licensed, Nurse Interns will transition into their licensed role.
Overview:
Under the direction of the RN or LPN, assists in the individualized care of the patient to achieve the patient's highest level of wellness. Works cooperatively with others as part of a team; recognizes the importance of group goals. Performs designated clinical procedures and nonclinical support tasks essential to providing care to the patient. Performs direct patient care activities for all age groups to include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduated from an approved or accredited school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).
- Licensure: Must be eligible to take board of nursing exam. In the state of Oklahoma, must have submitted application to Pearson VUE for testing and first payment for validating eligibility to test, as well as transcript and conferral letter.
- Certification/Registration: Must have a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card or complete a course within their probation period.
- Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Requirements: Stand and walk most of the time on duty. Meet unit-specific physical demands. Significant amount of bending and stooping, as well as lifting and turning patients with assistance. May be required to work differing schedules, shifts, days of the week, or work frequency according to patient care requirements. High risk exposure to blood and body fluids. Physical demands are attached plus push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs., pinch up to 15 lbs., kneel, crouch, and crawl minimally.
- Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Upholds and role models behaviors of professionalism. Remains knowledgeable in advances in the healthcare environment through continuing education.
Mercy has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
