Main Purpose
This role is a temporary role due to a seasonal increase in volume - the end date for this role is projected to be February, 2023. Any extension of this project is not guaranteed and will be discussed if and when the continued need arises.
Part of the Finance Team, the Payroll Specialist will support payroll operations to process and manage the company's payroll. This role is critical in assisting with the calculation of wages based on hours worked, reconciling hours with billing statements and company records, and administering those payments. You will leverage incredible attention to detail and technical capabilities to fully utilize payroll software and tools with accuracy and efficiency. You are good with numbers, you can be trusted with sensitive information, and you bring strong interpersonal skills to interact with a diverse, cross-functional team to accomplish payroll tasks. You are ultimately responsible for delivering accurate, complete compensation to our employees in a timely manner.
Responsibilities & Duties
  • Collect, verify, and record employee's hours worked from multiple internal and external sources
  • Calculate the appropriate totals incorporating overtime, deductions, bonuses, and any other ancillary adjustments
  • Process and monitor garnishment orders
  • Administer statements of payment to personnel electronically
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws including remittance of payroll taxes
  • Maintain a database of accurate personnel information and payroll records
  • Conduct regular audits of payroll records to ensure continued accuracy and accountability
  • Address employee concerns about incorrect payments, resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Provide regular reports and updates to department leads and management regarding daily activities and issues
  • Prepare and submit reports to relevant departments and stakeholders regarding payroll financials
  • Support ongoing initiatives for process improvement, data security, data privacy, cybersecurity, and data protection

Requirements
Qualifications and Skills
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience administering payroll with preference to those with background in the Staffing, Consulting, or Staff Augmentation sectors
  • High level of technical acumen to navigate a suite of software related to completing daily tasks including Payroll system, HRIS, Timekeeping system, Slack, Monday.com, Salesforce, Google WorkPlace / Microsoft Office, etc
  • Expertise in multi-function, multi-discipline organization with payroll compliance requirements for a remote, asynchronous, and irregular workforce
  • Expertise in payroll administration, garnishments, benefits distribution, and related processes and compliance tasks
  • Expertise in payroll recordkeeping requirements and data privacy/protection
  • Highly attentive to details and able to recognize and correct discrepancies and errors
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with a diverse, distributed workforce and multiple stakeholders from various functions at all levels of the organization
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities and complete routine tasks as well as large, complex projects in a timely manner
