Principal Engineer, Google Distributed Cloud, Platforms

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, similar field, or equivalent practical experience
• 15 years of experience in software engineering, building and working with systems in technology organizations

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience as an engineering leader who develops a structure of other technical leads in the area
• Experience with building enterprise grade and highly scalable platforms, on-premise infrastructure and cloud technologies
  
• Experience with operating cloud environments, or building security, observability and operational services
• Ability to build vision and drive technical roadmap and design with a broader engineering organization

Strong communicator and relationship building skills, highly collaborative, and empathetic customer advocate

Vigilant about technical trends, adapt quickly to emerging technologies, and apply to consumer or enterprise applications

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $278,000-$399,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

• Shape the future of Platform services and Operational Tooling in Google Distributed Cloud.
• Work on problems that span building and optimizing Platform Services and Operational Tooling to serve emerging data, AI/ML as well as legacy enterprise workloads, driving convergence of different stacks, ensuring operational and production accuracy in design, development, and operation processes.
• Help programs to improve software quality and engineering productivity, and help scale the infrastructure and processes as we onboard more customers and existing customers deploy GDC more widely.
• Define the long-term technical strategy, mentor a team of experts, and collaborate with leadership to ensure alignment between technology and business goals.
