The Opportunity
DAT is seeking a Principal Software Engineer join our team in Beaverton, OR or Denver CO (remote is an option).Â
Candidate profile
DAT is currently looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join our growing technical team and drive the evolution of technology infrastructure at DAT. Candidates should have a strong background in AWS, Kubernetes, GitOps, Infrastructure as Code, and some networking experience with hybrid data center environments. We are looking for strong candidates to roll up their sleeves and hit the ground running and bring their experience to the team to make the infrastructure deployments much smoother. You should possess solid knowledge of infrastructure, operating systems, tools, system architecture, and support techniques for applications, web services, and modern front-end development. If you are a team player, able to communicate and work equally well with your peers as well as non-technical personnel, this is an exciting opportunity to add work on highly visible projects for an industry leader.
What You’ll Do
- Develop Infrastructure as code using AWS, Terraform, GitOps, and GitHub Actions to manage Cloud Kubernetes infrastructure.
- Lifecycle management on Kubernetes clusters including upgrades and implementing best practices.Â
- Document solutions, architectural patterns, and best practices around the Kubernetes environment
- Work with internal GRC teams to implement industry best practice DevSecOps security practices on Kubernetes clusters.
- Implement observability solutions on Kubernetes and develop alerting and monitoring solutions.
- Tune cluster performance.
- Set up and manage the networking plumbing for Kubernetes.
- Troubleshooting Kubernetes issues related to resources deployed on the cluster, network issues.
- Collaborate with your team and the software engineering organization to help build a robust Service Catalog portfolio of infrastructure patterns.
The Skills and Experience You’ll Bring
- BS or Engineering in Computer science or electronics or related IT-focused.
- 5+ years of experience keeping production environments operating at peak performance on cloud and in containersÂ
- 4+ years of experience managing production Kubernetes infrastructure with exposure to the use of cloud Kubernetes solutions such as EKS
- 5+ years hands on experience with Infrastructure as Code, build and deployment using CI/CD pipelines. Working experience with GitHub/GitHub Actions and ArgoCD are preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of Unix/Linux systems including hardware, software, and applications. Some Windows experience a plus.
- Strong knowledge with a broad portfolio of AWS infrastructure services (EKS, S3, EC2, Elastic IP, Route 53, VPC)
- Ability to clearly articulate design and implementation choices
- Ability to use a wide variety of open-source technologies and tools
- Expertise in different types of TCP/IP protocols such as LDAP, DNS, HTTPS configurations and troubleshooting.
- Working experience in SaaS is highly desirable.
- Exposure/understanding of DevOps tools and principles such as CI/CD, infrastructure as code, containers.
- Should have good knowledge of information security principles and practices, understanding of security protocols and standards.
 In compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the minimum salary for this role is $150,000.00 + benefits. The maximum compensation for this role can vary significantly depending on your job-related skills and experience. DAT considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education and training, core skills, internal equity, and market and business elements when extending an offer.
