The Auburn, IN location is seeking a Product Development Engineer to join our team.

Core Responsibilities • Development of new product variants and combination of existing products to meet customer requirements for air spring systems• Consideration of commercial aspects and supplier choice • Consulting in application technology of our products for train manufacturers and national railway authorities• Acquisition of new development projects and customer relationship management with technical counterparts• Technical customer support (internal and external) over product life cycle of railway vehicle• Support Sales with customer visits during product development and/or potential quality issues • Evaluation of customers specification and preparation of Clause-by-Clause comments• Feasibility studies, estimation of product costs• Optimization of product's design and manufacturability for cost savings• Support purchasing efforts especially through audits of potential metal suppliers for the air spring market • Definition, evaluation and interpretation of test results for product development• Definition of internal specifications, creation and maintenance of BOM• Coordination and monitoring of development process from RFQ to serial handover within specified time• Works as a project engineer to support smooth transition throughout sales, purchasing, manufacturing, quality, and product delivery • Alignment with all involved departments (sales, product development, purchasing, production, logistic, PI, QM, QA)• Support in customer claims in cooperation with quality management / quality assurance• Support of product industrialization, see below:• Industrialization of products, tools, machines, and processes acting as a manufacturing engineer • Creation of work instructions • Series handover of product and process• Optimization of production process and machines • Support production in case of quality issues• Definition of process parameters• Definition of requirements for assembly tools

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree• 3 + years as a product and development engineer • Experience with working within a Manufacturing environment to plan and deliver prototypes • Strong problem-solving skills • Comfortable working directly with our customers• Knowledge in rail vehicle technology• Knowledge in rubber and/or metal technology• Basic knowledge in project management• MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)• Strong self-management skills and ability to work with minimal supervision• Strong communication skills • Commercial acumen
