Product Engineer

The Product Engineer (Projects & NPD - New Product Development) acts as the liaison person between R&D, operations, and the quality team. The Product Engineer is responsible to assess risks of the manufacturing process of newly developed products and for the appropriate actions to ensure quality and an efficient manufacturing process. The Product Engineer (Sustaining Engineering) performs the necessary actions within Product Engineering's responsibility to support/manage the current product portfolio through its lifecycle.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Projects & New Product Development

• Primary objective is to actively participate in R&D projects, where you provide early design input from a manufacturability perspective aligned with Quality and Operations.
• Follow R&D projects through the Stage Gate Process, where your responsibilities grow from design input in Gate 2 through actual implementation and handover to production in Gates 4-5.
• Maintain focused on the new product development until Stage 6 in which you monitor quality and on time delivery.
• Leading local projects initiated by product engineering or other departments.

Sustaining Engineering

• Product Engineering Sustaining activities are defined as product changes to support the products through their lifecycle. These product changes can be triggered from various inputs (supplier-initiated changes, improvements of safety, quality, costs, productivity, or other site metrics).
• Responsible for managing product changes at resident site to the current portfolio.

General

• Define the project (charter) and act as a project manager (scope, milestones, budget, action plans and follow up meetings).
• Prepare detailed validation protocols for IQ, OQ, PQ, execution and write the validation reports in close cooperation with quality engineering.
• Cooperate with the engineering technician to get support on tests in manufacturing or engineering lab.
• Cooperate with Design Engineering to create / update product and / or manufacturing drawings.
• Is responsible for the creation of technical documentation such as Product Data Sheets, Training Instructions and Specifications pertaining to the area of expertise.
• Cooperate with the Design Engineering Team Leader / Manager to align needs for documentation/part setup.
• You are part of cross functional teams to support projects at global level and lead on local level.

Product Changes

• You initiate change requests and work with a team to perform a robust risk assessment.
• You manage the validation of the product and or process change.
• You work closely with supply chain to handle phase-in-phase of the change.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

• Strong focus on continuous improvement of products and processes.
• Apply Danaher Problem Solving Process and use A3 actions plans to solve problems in straightforward situations; analyzes possible solutions using technical experience and judgment and precedents.
• Support and/or lead investigations to resolve customer complaints and complete corrective and preventive actions.

YOUR EXPERIENCE:

• Miimum. bachelor's engineering degree. Degree in e.g., (Mechanical Engineering, Business Engineering, Material Science, Chemical Engineering or equivalent).
• Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience in engineering.
• Knowledge of process validation procedures and techniques, e.g., Process and product FMEA and process capability studies.
• Able to write validation (IQ, OQ and PQ) documents for new products, processes, and equipment.
• Moderate knowledge of plastic processing, e.g., seal technologies, injection molding, etc.
• Competent with Microsoft Office applications and Minitab.
• Knowledge of SAP is a plus.
