Overview

As a product manager on Esri's Open Platform team, you will drive the vision and innovation for metadata, search, and content discovery across the ArcGIS platform. You will catalyze support for the vision with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders. You will gather and prioritize customer requirements in the broader geospatial and data community. You will evangelize modernized approaches that Esri believes will add value to the metadata cataloging and search experience.

Internally, you will focus on supporting cross-platform product teams to implement search, metadata, and catalog features. You will be an integral member of Esri's Open Platform team, pushing our efforts towards well-understood Open Architecture principles that allow customization and extensibility. You will be a subject matter expert versed in theory and the pragmatic aspects of product development and adoption.

Responsibilities

  • Articulate, internally and externally, the vision for next-generation metadata, catalog, and search user experiences
  • Gather user requirements and prioritize
  • Collaborate with product teams and guide them as they implement metadata support and enhancements across the ArcGIS platform
  • Serve as the search and metadata subject matter expert by researching and staying updated on technology, concepts, and standards related to big data search, indexing, and metadata, including newer patterns using machine learning, linked data, and semantic web technologies
  • Work closely with other members of the Open Platform team to take our vision into reality
  • Evangelize Esri's tools related to search, metadata management, geospatial catalogs
  • Grow into the role as a trusted advisor to standards development organizations, such as W3C, OGC, ISO, FGDC, OASIS, ESIP
  • Represent Esri technology at various conferences

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in a product role, such as engineering, development, support, and others
  • Comfortable with reviewing and discussing web, geospatial, and/or metadata standards
  • Strong technology foundation and eagerness to explore and learn
  • Proven ability to collaborate and work successfully in a team environment
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas, both verbally and in written form, whether to customers, executives, or other technical or non-technical peers
  • Requirement for travel 10-20% of the time for strategic meetings, events and/or tradeshows
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, GIS, or related field

Recommended Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the ArcGIS Platform
  • Previous experience with Esri metadata initiatives
  • High-level understanding of enterprise search technologies (such as Elasticsearch, Lucene, and others)

Base salary is one component of our total rewards strategy. Compensation decisions and the base range for this role take into account many factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range is $83,200.00 - $145,600.00.
