Project Manager (Heavy Civil Construction) California Compaction Corporation has been helping shape California, Arizona, Texas, and Nevada for over 33 years. Our goal is to continue building long-term relationships with our new clients and within the community in which we work and live in. We are a full-service General Engineering Site Development Contractor. We can take your project from start to finish. Projects can range from 25 lot residential subdivisions to heavy industrial or clean energy of any size. The Project Managerwill oversee the successful execution of large-scale solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects from planning through completion. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day field operations, coordinating with construction teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure schedules, budgets, and quality standards are consistently met. The Project Manager will maintain hands-on involvement through regular site visits, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations while driving overall project performance. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in heavy civil construction, including grading, trenching, roads, and foundations, coupled with strong leadership, scheduling, and problem-solving skills. This position requires the ability to work both in the field and the office, with flexibility to travel as projects demand. Responsibilities: • Manage day-to-day operations across all phases of solar and BESS construction projects • Coordinate with construction management team, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure schedules, budgets, and quality standards are met • Monitor construction progress and conduct regular site visits to maintain project oversight • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental policies, and quality standards • Prepare and maintain detailed project documentation, including schedules, reports, and change orders • Assist in the development of project scopes, budgets, and resource planning Requirements: • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Project Manager on large-scale solar and BESS projects • Heavy civil construction background with proven experience managing grading, trenching, roads, and foundations • Must have hands-on experience working directly on job sites-not just from the office • Strong understanding of construction scheduling software and project controls • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills • Ability to travel as required by project phase • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field preferred (not required) Work Environment and Physical Demands: This position requires working on construction sites in extreme temperatures. Specific vision abilities required include the ability to adjust and focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand for long periods, walk, sit, kneel, bend, reach with hands and arms, hear, and talk.
