Public Relations Specialist

Duties

1. Public Relations: Develop and implement public relations strategies for ministry programs, promotions, and milestones that integrate with ministry-wide marketing plans.
   1. Develop and produce high-quality press releases, media announcements, press kits, fact sheets, and related materials.
   2. Serve as a first contact for media queries.
   3. Build and maintain targeted media lists; nurture relationships with key reporters.
   4. Analyze media coverage and develop responses as needed.
   5. Provide effective crisis management solutions in times of need.
   6. Integrate with nationwide offices and utilize PR and marketing techniques to increase local visibility and engagement.
2. Podcasts: Support production, distribution, and promotion of ministry podcasts.
   1. Pitch podcast guests and serve as liaison for scheduling interviews.
   2. Assist in content development and production of show materials.
   3. Manage podcast transcription.
   4. Develop promotions for podcasts related to popular themes and current events.
3. Brand Influencer Program: Coordinate with the Marketing team, national programs, and U.S. Ministry offices to develop an influencer program focused on brand awareness and volunteerism.
   1. Leverage existing relationships and develop new relationships with media, influencers, and brand ambassadors.
   2. Cultivate and retain engaged supporters.
4. Reporting: Develop monthly, quarterly, and annual media and activity reports for senior leadership and status meetings.
   1. Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of PR campaigns and communicate insights to management.
5. Other: Assist, as needed, in the management of the Joni and Friends social media accounts, producing compelling content and assisting with engagement.
   1. Maintain a current understanding of industry trends affecting Joni and Friends and make appropriate recommendations regarding strategies surrounding them.
   2. Be informed on the performance of other organizations using related platforms and promotions.
6. Other duties and projects as assigned by supervisor to support department and organizational needs

Qualifications

• Must possess a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ and agree with the Joni and Friends statement of faith
• Desire to serve in a growing and dynamic Christian service ministry
• 3+ years of experience working in public relations
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Creative and strategic in nature with the ability to articulate big ideas
• Proficiency using Meltwater or similar media monitoring services
• Outstanding organizational and time management skills
• High attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple projects/tasks simultaneously
• Strong capabilities in Microsoft 0365, Asana (or similar project management platforms), and social and media platforms/tools
• Understanding of Christian ministry and specifically Joni and Friends is desirable

Compensation is $57,000 - $65,500. Exempt or non-exempt will be determined by the compensation offered. This is a hybrid position (Mon, Tue, Thu in office and Wed and Fri remote).
