FILING DEADLINE:FRIDAY, AUGUST 8, 2025, OR UNTIL 150 APPLICATIONS ARE RECEIVED, WHICHEVER OCCURS FIRST.Under general supervision, provides a variety of journey level non-sworn public safety duties in support of public safety division, including patrolling City streets and facilities, responding to calls for service, may assist with the monitoring and enforcement of animal control regulations; interacting with and providing assistance to the public, preparing reports, issuing warnings and citations; and performs other related duties as assigned.

***Classification under review.The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. /Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.Provides supplementary support to the Sheriff's Department; responds to dispatched calls for service involving non-emergency incidents.Patrols assigned residential, commercial, and/or other public areas within the City by vehicle and/or foot.Performs home and business security checks; monitors the safety and security of persons and property.Identifies and reports suspicious persons, criminal activity, hazardous conditions, accidents and injuries, and violations of City ordinances and State laws.Prepares and issues parking citations; red-tags vehicles; coordinates the removal and impoundment of abandoned or stolen vehicles.Investigates traffic accidents; prepares accident reports; provides traffic control as required.Acts as a liaison between the community and the Cityβs public safety efforts, fostering outreach and engagement; promotes crime prevention, builds partnerships with local businesses and community groups, and helps resolve conflicts. Participates in providing Public Safety programming; assists with Neighborhood Watch, Business Watch, and/or other programs and events as assigned, Coordinates activities with other City departments, the Fire Department, and law enforcement agencies.Prepares a variety of non-emergent reports involving burglaries, petty/grand theft, vandalism, lost/found property, missing persons, and vehicle reports.Responds to public inquiries and requests for assistance, including issues involving homeless individuals and stranded motorists; evaluates situations, conducts assessments, provides information on City services and available resources, and coordinates with appropriate departments or agencies. May assist with basic animal control support, as needed. Monitors City facilities, parks and public spaces during public and special events, and enforces rules and regulations. Performs related duties as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Required Licenses or Certifications:Must possess a valid California driver's license and safe driving record. Possess 832 P.C. Certification prior to completion of probation.Special Requirements: Ability to obtain security clearance (background check) as required by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
