At IBM our RFA writer team is at the heart of innovation driving transformation across hardware and software portfolios. As an RFA writer supporting cross-portfolio initiatives for IBM Storage Hardware and Software you’ll contribute to strategic programs learn from experienced professionals and help improve processes that support IBM’s product lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
· Work with a tight schedule maintaining the milestone dates and calendar deadlines for the new product announcements
· Participate in Offering Development conference meetings scheduled during the year.
· Plan and define the different announcement dates for new products for each quarter from an RFA point of view.
· Create the RFA and EPIC documents for new/current Products.
· Coordinate with the Offering Managers or Planners the marketing and end-of-life withdrawals.
· Keep up to date the Announcement Letters and Sales Manuals for new and existing products of each brand.
· Fix problems generated by the new announcement in the different systems such as ordering and configuration systems price or finance.
· Continuous improvement of the RFA process and related areas.
· Work side-by-side with the DCT team representatives in order to ensure the quality of each announcement.
· Participate proactively and with a positive attitude in the internal RFA writer’s team meetings.
The RFA writer is responsible for the creation of announcement documents planning writing and tracking RFAs and EPICs through the RFA create tool. The RFA writer will work collaboratively and effectively alongside Product Development Project Managers Offering Managers Marketing Legal Fulfillment and Pricing to develop complete and accurate technical information according to strict IBM Style guidelines.
Technical aptitude is required to understand the IBM Storage portfolio as they will attend development core team meetings for their particular product set. The RFA writer must be flexible to meet announcement schedules and last-minute changes.
The RFA writer must be organized and needs to have the ability to work within a tight schedule. Specific activities will vary by product set but key activities will include creating RFAs for upcoming Storage announcements maintaining Sales Manuals and announcement letters for current Storage products (hardware and Software) via EPICs and withdrawal activities for products going end of life.
A successful RFA writer will have the ability to drive projects to completion; will set meetings and pull-in the appropriate people to ensure that dates are met. Good coordination and project/time-line management skills as well as persistence help greatly to execute this role.
