Job Description:
Position Overview:We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Scenic Carpenter and Set Builder to join our creative team. As a Scenic Carpenter and Set Builder, you will be responsible for constructing custom event sets and scenic elements based on renderings and design plans. Your attention to detail, precision, and ability to work collaboratively with our design and production teams will be crucial in bringing our clients' visions to life.
Key Responsibilities:
Set Construction:Build, assemble, and install custom scenic elements and sets for various events, ensuring that they meet design specifications and quality standards.
Reading Renderings:Interpret and work from detailed renderings, technical drawings, and design plans to accurately construct scenic elements, props, and backdrops.
Material Selection:Select appropriate materials, such as wood, metal, fabric, and paint, to achieve the desired look and feel for each project while considering budget constraints.
Precision Cutting and Crafting:Use a wide range of hand and power tools to cut, shape, and join materials with precision and accuracy.
Collaboration:Work closely with the design team, event producers, and other crew members to ensure that scenic elements align with the overall vision and aesthetics of each event.
Safety:Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while working in the shop or on-site, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Quality Control:Conduct quality checks throughout the construction process to identify and address any issues or discrepancies.
Maintenance:Maintain and repair scenic elements as needed for ongoing events and productions.
Timeline Management:Manage time effectively to meet project deadlines and adapt to changing priorities and schedules.
Qualifications:
β’ Proven experience as a scenic carpenter and set builder in the events, theater, or related industry.
β’ Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, renderings, and design plans.
β’ Strong carpentry skills with the ability to use a variety of hand and power tools.
β’ Knowledge of materials commonly used in scenic construction.
β’ Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
β’ Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
β’ Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability.
β’ Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
β’ Knowledge of safety protocols and a commitment to a safe work environment.
β’ Physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy objects and work in various conditions.
Pay Range:
$25- $30 DOE
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 β 32 per week
