Scientist/Senior Scientist – Antibody Discovery and Yeast Display Technology

PharmaEssentia strives to develop first-in-class and best-in-class biotherapeutics, including cytokines, antibodies, and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), with novel mechanisms of action. To this end, we are seeking a motivated and skilled Antibody Discovery - Yeast Display Scientist to join our Biologics Platform team. This is a highly scientific position that requires in-depth knowledge and expertise in molecular biology and yeast display technology. The successful candidate will be responsible for biologics lead discovery and engineering using the display library approach. They will be an integral part of a dynamic, cross-functional team advancing transformative therapies in Oncology, Hematology, and Immunology disease areas.
Responsibilities

• Collaborate with structural and computational biologists to design and build naïve, immunized, and synthetic application-specific display libraries for antibody, cytokine, and TCR-based protein biotherapeutics.
• Conduct selection campaigns to identify lead molecules against various targets.
• Evaluate scientific strategies, review data in real time and make the necessary scientific adjustments to ensure successful delivery of yeast display discovery campaigns.
• Participate in project teams and identify and prioritize critical experiments to accelerate drug discovery programs.
• Provide technical expertise and advice to team members, fostering an environment of continuous learning and growth.
• Continuously assess and implement new technologies into the existing workflow to inspire creativity and contribute to an innovative product portfolio with diverse modalities.

Qualification

• PhD in molecular biology, biological engineering, or related biological science disciplines with 2+ years of industrial experience in Biologics discovery function.

• Strong hands-on experience with yeast display technology and antibody lead discovery and optimization including affinity, potency and developability enhancement.
• Proficiency in molecular biology (e.g., molecular cloning) and flow cytometry skills, including multi-parameter analysis and sorting.
• Strong understanding of antibody structure, function, and engineering.
• Experience with building naïve and/or immunized yeast display library.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in single B cell antibody technology in highly preferred.
• Proficient in NGS antibody library output analysis.
• Protein design and modeling experience using RoseTTAFold, AlphaFold, or equivalent.
