Job Summary

As aSenior Accountant, you will primarily work closely with the Assistant Controller to ensure the accuracy of accounting records, oversee day-to-day accounting activities, and directly manage accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP) staff. This role is hands-on and requires strong technical accounting skills, experience with ERP systems (preferably Acumatica), and advanced proficiency in Excel. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable with technology-driven accounting processes.
Essential Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
• Supervise AR and AP staff, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, collections, and payments.
• Review and reconcile general ledger accounts on a regular basis.
• Prepare and post journal entries as needed.
• Support the Assistant Controller with monthly, quarterly, and annual closes.
• Assist with year-end audits and provide documentation as required.
• Maintain organized accounting records in compliance with company policies and GAAP.
• Drive efficiencies in accounting operations by leveraging Acumatica ERP and Excel.
• Recommend and help implement process improvements for greater accuracy, automation, and efficiency.
• Act as a key point of contact within the Accounting department for cross-departmental requests.
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (CPA preferred, but not required).
• Minimum of 5 years of professional accounting experience, preferably in a corporate environment.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and standard accounting practices.
• Prior supervisory experience managing AR/AP staff preferred.
• Hands-on experience with ERP systems; Acumatica ERP strongly preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, complex formulas, data analysis).
• Strong technical aptitude with the ability to learn and optimize software tools and systems.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements
• Standing/walking for extended periods of time
• Frequent lifting, carrying, and moving of products, pallets, and equipment (up to XX lbs.)
• PPE Compliance: Hair net, gloves and apron always worn during shift when applicable
• Non-slip shoes required for safety in the kitchen when applicable
• Comfortable working in a walking cooler/freezer and adjusting to varying temperatures
The hiring range for this position in California is $90,000 - $100,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
