Job Description
Alcon is looking to hire a Senior Automation Engineer to join our team in Fort Worth, TX. This person will be responsible for managing facilities, equipment, and personnel to manufacture medical device products in a way that ensures a safe workplace, complies with established standards and procedures (e.g., cGMP and SOPs), drives growth, and optimizes and improves the manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Designs manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for equipment installation.
- Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
- Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
- Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
- Develops user and design requirements, selects equipment vendors, or completes the technology design and equipment build.
- Manages the installation of automation systems while ensuring safety, and validating the automated system for adherence to requirements, CGMPs, and intended system operation.
- Supports Automation Technicians in situations where troubleshooting or technology may fall outside of their area of expertise.
- Interacts with production supervisors/managers to identify areas to improve equipment throughput, flexibility, quality, safety, and/or reliability.
- Implements automation solutions resulting from MNC investigations or CAPA assignments.
- Plans and executes engineering project work with minimal supervision.
- Troubleshoots equipment/process control systems and change control activities.
- Programs PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and inspection systems.
- Manages small capital projects.
- Designs and implements modifications to the existing manufacturing equipment that will improve the operational efficiencies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +10 yrs; Assoc.+6 yrs)
- The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English.
- 2 years of relevant experience
- Work hours: Exempt
- Travel Requirements: 0-10%

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (electrical, chemical, mechanical, biomedical), computer science, computer engineering, or software engineering
- Relevant experience with manufacturing medical devices
- Hands on experience with PLCs and CAD design
- Project Management experience
