Senior Backend Engineer

At Seedworld Studios, we're on a mission to revolutionize the gaming experience with our upcoming AAA metaverse game, Seedworld, which combines the enchanting worlds of Fantasy and Steampunk. Seedworld Studios is seeking a talented and passionate Senior Backend Engineer to join our Product Engineering department. As a member of our team, you will play a crucial role in the development of our product application that supports one of the biggest metaverse projects in the industry. You will report to the Head of Engineering and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to bring our vision to life.

Key Responsibilities:

Goal Ownership & Delivery: Take ownership of team objectives, ensuring impactful and timely delivery. Proactively identify inefficiencies or risks and implement solutions to meet both technical and business needs.

Backend Development: Lead the development and maintenance of scalable, efficient backend services using Node.js and TypeScript. Write clean, high-performance, and maintainable code.

System Design & Architecture: Lead the design and development of complex systems, making high-impact architectural decisions to ensure systems align with technical and business requirements.

API Design & Integration: Design and manage RESTful APIs, including integration with third-party APIs, to support seamless business processes and data exchange.

Database Management: Design, optimize, and maintain MongoDB databases to ensure data integrity, security, and scalability.

Monitoring & Optimization: Establish and optimize monitoring and alerting strategies, analyze complex system data, and ensure high availability and performance.

Code Quality & Reviews: Take accountability for the quality and reliability of codebases. Lead code reviews, implement best practices, and mentor team members to ensure consistency and scalability.

Security Integration: Incorporate security best practices into development processes, proactively identifying vulnerabilities and mitigating risks in applications.

Collaboration & Mentorship: Mentor team members to foster a culture of continuous improvement. Actively collaborate with cross-functional teams, including frontend developers, product owners, and Web3 experts, to align development with business goals.

Adaptability & Innovation: Work closely with stakeholders to adapt to priority changes, drive innovations, and balance multiple perspectives to align with business objectives.

DevOps Practices: Collaborate on DevOps processes, including continuous integration, deployment, and managing cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS).

User-Centric Focus: Ensure team strategies are customer-focused, balancing technical execution with user-centric design principles.

Documentation: Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date documentation for backend systems, ensuring clarity and accessibility for team members.

Team Structure

You will be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary product development team, including frontend/backend engineers, test engineers, UI/UX designers, product owners, and Web3 subject matter experts.

Requirements:

Experience: 6+ years of professional experience in backend development or as a Senior Software Engineer.

Technical Expertise: Proven expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, MongoDB, and REST API design. Experience with frameworks like Express or NestJS.

Leadership & Mentorship: Demonstrated ability to mentor team members, foster inclusivity, and champion team culture.

Web3 Interest: Knowledge or interest in the Web3 ecosystem, including wallets, transactions, IDOs/ICOs, and DeFi concepts (e.g., staking, farming, liquidity pools).

User-Centric Development: Experience working in user-focused environments, balancing technical requirements with customer needs.

Adaptability: Proven ability to manage changing priorities and ensure high-quality deliverables in fast-paced environments.

Desirable

- Deep understanding of the Web3 ecosystem and blockchain technology.

- Experience with high-risk environments such as payment platforms.

- Proficiency with AWS and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform).

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related education

Location

- 100% remote

- Timezone: flexible, but working hours must be in the range between 9AM and 10PM (UTC time).
