The Team:

Vestmark Managed Services Operations team is a small team dedicated to the daily operation of the VestmarkONE suite of applications. The team is responsible for the design, system performance, capacity forecasting, monitoring and continuous improvement of our operations.  The team offers a great opportunity to experience a wide range of technologies and challenges as we strive to providing world class hosted services to our growing customer base. The team plays a vital role in proactive and predictive monitoring and continuously interact with engineering, implementation and technical support teams. 

The Role:

Vestmark is seeking a SQL Server Database Administrator to design, implement and support scalable data management solutions.  The DBA will collaborate with the engineering team to create standardized delivery of data management solutions that are aligned with enterprise strategy and architecture. You will define database maintenance standards and work with the operations team to ensure these standards are implemented and followed consistently. You will occasionally propose enhancements to the daily operations around database systems. You will be responsible for forecasting system requirements and provide a course of action to meet the growing workload demands.

Responsibilities

• Perform Database Administration for MS SQL Server and other database tools
• Troubleshoot and resolve database issues
• Tuning and optimization using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve failed tasks or database issues on a variety of database engines including Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL
• Proactive performance and resource monitoring
• Ensure backup, high availability and disaster recovery
• Configure and monitor replication clusters
• Conduct security and compliance reviews

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in technical discipline or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of hands-on administration with combinations of SQL Server 2008 and above
• Experience with High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
• Strong knowledge of performance tuning/optimization
• Direct working experience with virtualization
• Experience managing security within the SQL Server environment
• Expert-level knowledge of backups, restores, recoveries, and clones
• Experience working with Windows Servers and Active Directory (AD)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Significant work experience with Atlassian products (JIRA, Wiki etc)
• Understanding of high performance storage subsystems (e.g. HPE 3PAR, Nimble, etc.)
• Passion for continuous improvement
• Experience working with Splunk
• Experience managing SQL Server in AWS
