What you’ll do:

As Head of Finance and Accounting Systems and Data Engineering you will lead the development and optimization of financial and accounting systems and data engineering initiatives for a dynamic travel marketplace organization. This executive role demands a strategic leader to oversee financial system architecture data integration and reporting frameworks that drive business growth and operational efficiency.

This leadership is crucial in shaping the strategic vision for our financial and accounting systems and data infrastructure ensuring the alignment of data and technology solutions with business objectives and optimizing processes to support the company’s growth and compliance needs.

What we are looking for?

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Vision: Develop foundational data strategy with a focus on data platforms and engineering to support Finance and Accounting team’s business objectives and specific goals

• Stakeholder management and collaboration: Work closely with Accounting Tax Finance Procurement IT HR Internal Audit and other departments across all Tripadvisor brands including Viator Fork and Cruise Critic to understand data requirements and deliver effective solutions.

• Communication: Facilitate effective communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders serving as the primary point of contact for finance and accounting data engineering-related inquiries.

• Data Architecture: Design and oversee the creation of robust data architecture to ensure reliable data flow integrity and security for financial and accounting operations and processes across TA Viator Fork and Cruise Critic.

• Data Pipeline Management: Develop maintain and optimize data pipelines and ETL processes to ensure the accuracy completeness and availability of financial and accounting data across all relevant technical systems across all Tripadvisor brands

• Critical Data Process Management: Maintain and optimize the data infrastructure relating to critical finance processes (e.g. digital services tax process) as well as identify evaluate and resolve technical issues that may impact the existing data infrastructure

• Technology Evaluation: Evaluate recommend and implement new tools and technologies including Generative AI solutions to enhance data processing and analysis capabilities. Provide support and develop workflows/automations using (Alteryx and UiPath). Stay current with trends and best practices in data engineering finance and AI technologies.

• Generative AI in Finance and Accounting: Explore and implement Generative AI vendors and techniques for automating financial and accounting processes and generate actionable data

• Project Management: Oversee the planning execution and delivery of data engineering projects ensuring they are completed on time within scope and within budget. Drive finance automation program with governance structure and tools/platform management.

• Lead and Mentor: Lead mentor and develop a team of finance and accounting data engineers and data analysts fostering a culture of growth and excellence.

Qualifications:

• Leadership and Strategy: Proven experience leading a data engineering team for Finance and Accounting functions with a strong track record of developing and executing data strategies that align with business goals.

• Experience: 15+ years of experience in finance and accounting systems processes and data engineering with a deep understanding of financial operations and data management. Deep expertise in ERP systems and integrations with custom and standard applications.

• Technical Expertise: Deep understanding in data engineering tools and technologies. Experience with cloud platforms like AWS Azure or Google Cloud and data warehousing solutions. Experience with Alteryx and UiPath a plus.

• Generative AI Skills: Familiarity with Generative AI technologies and their applications in finance and accounting; exposure to procurement HR Internal Audit a plus

• Financial systems experience: Strong understanding of financial systems data structures and accounting GAAP rules. Ability to integrate financial and accounting knowledge with data engineering practices.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse teams across Accounting Tax Finance Procurement IT Internal Audit and HR to meet data requirements and deliver solutions.

• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Project Management: Experience managing data engineering projects including resource allocation budget management and meeting project deadlines.

• Automation Mindset: An approach to data engineering that emphasizes automation efficiency and best practices over manual processes and roadblocks.

• Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the Fintech industry or a deep understanding of financial and accounting processes GAAP regulations and SOX guidelines (404A & 404B). Experience maintaining industry standards and compliance requirements.
