About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Java Developer to join our dynamic development team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance Java applications. You will contribute by participating in brainstorming sessions, understanding of requirements, and the coding of the solutions. You will work within an Agile team environment focused on the continuous improvement of their methodologies, tools, practices and teamwork. Finally, your skills to collaborate with transversal disciplines, to build trust between peers and your capacity for positive influence will help you to overcome challenges successfully. 

Responsibilities

• Actively design, develop, code review and test as a member of a highly talented agile development team.
• Challenge assumptions and strive for innovative approaches to problems.
• Develop strong relationships with business and technical stakeholders to balance business requirements with technical feasibility and sustainability.
• Collaborate with the different teams to ensure that the end product is operationally sound.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across the software stack.
• Ensure non-functional requirements are met (performance and scalability).
• Contribute to retrospectives for continuous improvement of team processes and effectiveness.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies and integrate them into our development process where applicable.

Qualifications :

• University degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering (or equivalent experience).
• Have at least 5-7 years of developing backend applications experience in Java.
• Have excellent understanding and practical expertise of REST services and architecture.
• Take ownership of complex technical challenges, providing guidance and solutions to the team.
• Make a difference in a team. A change agent with strong positive influence skills, who can transform concrete actions into results. Above all, your natural leadership talents will bring out the best in your colleagues.

· Has experience in writing unit tests (Junit).

• Has experience with RDBMS’ (preferably PostgreSQL).
• Has experience with IDE and version control systems (Eclipse, Git, Maven, etc.).

What else could give you an edge:

• Good experience with Java development, with a strong understanding of Java 8+ and related frameworks (Spring, Hibernate, etc.)
• Experience working with AWS or Cloud platform (GCP, Azure).
• Experience of Windows and/or Linux platforms.
• Experience with Docker and containerization.
• Experience with serverless technologies or frameworks.
• Strong proficiency in both written and verbal English communication essential for effective correspondence with clients, suppliers, business partners and colleagues beyond the province of Quebec. 
• Bilingual.
