Senior Lead Software Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Lead Software Engineer to join our Patent Renewals Development Team in Jersey, London or Barcelona (hybrid role).

This is an amazing opportunity to work on Patent Renewals on IBM I technology. The team consists of 6 and is reporting to the Patent Renewals Development Manager. We have a great skill set in 2E, RPG, SQL and we would love to speak with you if you have skills in these areas. 

About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments  

• Solution design, technical design, code change, unit test and release management with full documentation at a level appropriate to the size of the change. 

• High level of analytical and problem-solving skills. 

• Demonstrated attention to detail. 

• Ability to work well under pressure. 

• Be able to provide to management informative analysis and data driven reports.  

• Ability to communicate solutions through effective modelling. 

• Understand and apply industry standard architectural principals. 

• Programming experience in debugging and troubleshooting. 

• Programming using SYNON/2E (CA 2E), RPG, RPG ILE, COBOL. 

• Programming using SQL. 

It would be great if you also had . . .  

• Experience with automated testing practices. 

• Knowledge of IBM I security features and best practices. 

• Knowledge of DB2 for I and SQL database management. 

• Understanding of tools and techniques for modernizing legacy IBM I applications. 

• Experience with implementing and testing integrations between multiple systems. 

• Agile development methodologies working experience. 

What will you be doing in this role? 

• Responsible for developing change and queries on our core Patent renewals platform. 

• Maintaining and developing interfaces with other internal and external applications 

• Working with a team to refresh and update our patent renewal technologies to maintain our position as the global leader in renewals. 

• Working with 3rd party suppliers to support change. 

• Providing support and advice on technical and functional aspects of renewals. 

• Adhere to Agile development practices 

• Ensure IT Security and risk procedures are adhered to. 

Product you will be developing  

Patent Renewal System is the core patent administration platform in the Patent Renewals area. Clarivate is the world’s leading IP renewals provider and PRS manages the majority of these renewals. We also work with a high number of interfacing client facing and internal software products that cover the end to end life cycles of intellectual property. 

We are engaged in a project that will secure the PRS application for the next decade within Clarivate and have a number of significant developments that
