Senior Mainframe System Automation Engineer - Remote

The "Mainframe Systems Engineer" must have the proven mainframe system automation skills. Candidate should have strong technical IBM SA and/or OPS MVS background with proven results. Candidate should have proven skills in writing automation code. Additionally, should have good understanding about mainframe and the sub-products integration. Be able to function in a leveraged, multiple client environment.

Essential Job Functions

• Implements integrated automation solutions to meet business requirements or enhance performance.
• Provides escalated technical support to customers by handling automated system-related issues; may provide on-call technical support telephonically and/or electronically.
• Resolves program support deficiencies and conducts testing to enhance performance of automation solutions.
• Conducts moderately complex projects or phases of significant projects; coordinates the efforts of technical support staff in the performance of assigned projects.
• Assists in the development, implementation and documentation of processes and procedures to ensure compliance with standard business practices. Develops and implements training tools and documentation.
• Provides technical consultation on current and proposed systems to other organizations and clients.
• Performs repairs, maintenance and upgrades of existing systems using solutions in accordance with standard operating procedures. Investigates and resolves matters of significance.
• Performs conversions of existing automation environment to strategic tools.
• Participates in in Business Continuity Planning.
• Provides work guidance to less experienced personnel.

Required Skills and Experience:

• 7+ years' systems experience supporting a Mainframe Automation environment.
• Experience with Support monitoring tools owned and supported by Mainframe Automation team. e.g.: CA-Sysview, CA-OPS/MVS, CA-Automation Point, IBM-SA, IBM-IOM, Omegamon.
• Proven experience in leading conversions to strategic tools.
• Experience in planning and executing customization for mainframe software upgrades.
• Demonstrated experience with Disaster Recovery (backup and restore, DR plan creation and maintenance).
• Have exposure to security packages (ACF2, RACF, and/or Top Secret).
• Experience on incident/problem debugging in system dumps.
• Experienced with the standard MVS tools: TSO/ISPF, JCL, IBM Utilities, VSAM Utilities, SDSF, etc.
• Monitoring tools familiarity and experience: Examples - Sysview, Omegamon, Mainview.
• Ticketing tool familiarity (Service Manager, ServiceNow).
• Experience with Microsoft SharePoint. Enforcement of security and audit conformance.
• Performing Data Security audits (collecting evidence of compliance, correcting noncompliance's found in an audit reviews).
• Able to communicate both internally with team and leadership, and with clients confidently and demonstrate the professionalism.
• Ability to work in a multi- technology environment with the ability to diagnose complex technical problems to their root cause. In addition to troubleshooting skills and consulting skills.
• Good problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with IBM Z System Automation (IBM SA)

Location and Expectation:

• This position is 100% remote within the United States.
• Provide 24/7 on call support - this is part of a shared rotation with teammates.
