Dematic's Sr. Sustainability Manager will lead system focused sustainability efforts for Dematic Global Products and Solutions. This role will be responsible for driving a Sustainability focus to R&D activities inclusive of everything encompassed within the supply chain ecosystem. This includes material handling products, warehouse management software, solution process design, and other areas encompassed within the logistics ecosystem. Dematic is approaching sustainability from a very broad perspective to enable the most impact on the industry and this role will heavily influence the Sustainability strategy. Key focus goals include net zero targets and employee safety.

The Senior Systems Sustainability Manager role requires a dynamic and proactive professional, who is comfortable working and influencing teams worldwide creating awareness of policies, trends, and best practices related to climate change mitigation and adaptation, energy, transportation, materials management, natural resource management, and other sustainability topics. This person will be a highly visible member of the Global Products and Solutions team, working across all relevant organizations to further the Dematic sustainability strategy.

Position Summary:

• Establish and govern the sustainability performance scorecard and assure alignment with corporate metrics and objectives, and drive behaviors and outcomes that enable Dematic and its customers to become a more sustainable enterprise.
• Drive product sustainability strategy that helps Dematic position itself to support customer targets, sustainability messaging development, sustainability competitive analysis and differentiation.
• Responsible for contributing Global Products and Solutions updates for quarterly and annual sustainability reports.

Key Responsibilities:

• Report in Sustainability frameworks and standards (SASB, TCFD, GRI).
• Drive SBTi scope 3.11 roadmap for 2050 (emissions during use phase)
• Drive EU taxonomy efforts for the KION group operating units feeding compulsory requirements.
• Staff development and mentoring to drive completion of EPDs, Life Cycle Assessments, and general subject matter expert support of the Dematic R&D organization.
• Support and drive energy measuring & reporting methods for products and solutions.
• Develop a strategic plan identifying key gaps and opportunities and aligning with sustainability goals and objectives.
• Create and deliver key messages enabling the communications team and external agencies to execute relevant campaigns and programs.
• Support Product Management and R&D in business cases creating and integrating sustainability value propositions.
• Communicate plans across Product Marketing, Engineering, Sales, and Executive Management.

Education:

• Engineering or other applicable technical degree (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Ecological, Systems Engineering).

Tasks and Qualifications:

Knowledge / Qualifications:

• Success leading teams, with a collaborative style, and aptitude in team facilitation inclusive of management experience.
• Strong communication, presentation and writing skills for all levels within an organization
• Experience conducting Life Cycle Assessments, developing disclosures such as EPDs, PEF, or PEP
• Certification in ecological Life Cycle Assessment preferred
• Knowledge in data collection, data validation, statistics, or similar operations / tools.
• Outstanding team building skills with the ability to improve interaction and efficiency as well as the ability to break down barriers and silos
• Experience in distributed work environments or international business setting
• Travel up to 10%, with destinations typically Dematic offices.
