CACI is looking for a Senior Naval Architect/Marine Engineer with strong technical skills in one or more naval architecture/marine engineering disciplines to provide experienced engineering support to US GOV'T customers on a variety of projects and provide guidance to less advanced naval architects and engineers.

What You'll Get to Do:

  • Design, develop and analyze new ships and ship system concepts.
  • Conduct & lead complex naval architecture/marine engineering work for specific projects, ranging from concept studies to preliminary, contract and detailed design, and through ship production and delivery.
  • Interface directly with clients to provide technical solutions and recommendations and ensure complete customer satisfaction.
  • Review and approve deliverables produced by less experienced engineers.
  • Interface with suppliers, vendors/contractors, and cross functional teams to ensure necessary resources are available for ships and systems.
  • Research new technology and development tools to remain informed of current technology with respect to ship design and systems.
  • Perform on-site field inspections and ship checks for T-ALT design and SRD validations.

Candidate will provide experienced engineering support for machinery, outfitting, and mechanical projects in support of NSWC, MSC, and NAVSEA customers. Candidate leads ship check teams for T-ALTS, SRDs, engineering logistics and reporting for various class of MSC ships. Candidate has a keen sense of detail as an expert in performing QA in accordance with MSC Design Standards and ANSI/ASME drawing practices, standard symbology, etc. Candidate has explicit attention to details for drawings QA and responsible for 2D and 3D CAD design skillsets and engineering calculation and analysis. Candidate will advise the Navy and MSC on best practices in mechanical design processes and/or other marine design innovations such as new technologies, materials, and emerging design tools.

  • Ensures that NAVSEA/NSWC/MSC Clients, Technical Warrant Holders and Ship Design Managers receive accurate technical advice in a timely fashion
  • Fosters a strong mentorship culture so that young employees receive training and oversight as they mature into fully capable engineers
  • Self-Starter, Multi-task capability, technically savvy, interpersonal skills, team player and ability to market and support our CACI team capabilities with MSC.
  • Capable of Client interfacing with MSC Department Heads/ Program leads/Engineers and/or with NAVSEA acquisition technical program PMs, PAPMs, SDMs, TWHs, SEMs, DIMs are required to provide technical solutions and recommendations and ensure complete customer satisfaction.
  • Explicit Knowledge of ABS MVR/ABS NVR, NAVY SPECs (e.g., GSO/NCDS/NSTM,TPUBs, Mil-Std) and Commercial Specs (ANSI/ASTM) and standards is a must.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
  • US Citizen with an Active Secret Clearance
  • Fifteen years of experience in US Naval Ship Engineering, either within the NAVSEA/PEO Governmental Organizations, Shipyard Construction and Repair, Ship Operations (as a USCG Certified Officer or US Naval Officer), NAVSEA contractor support, or Similar.
  • Ten years of experience performing as a key leader of an engineering team or in support of projects comprised of least 10 FTEs and across multiple HM&E disciplines
  • Deckplate experience providing waterfront support to vessel owner conducting ship surveys alongside class and regulatory representatives during repair periods.
  • Experience briefing complex technical issues (including performance, cost, schedule and risk implications) to decision makers
  • Strong analytical skills

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Twenty years of experience performing as a key lead of a NAVSEA or MSC engineering projects team comprised of least 10 FTEs and Across HM&E disciplines
  • Master's Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related degree
  • Professional Engineering License, Lead engineer for Former NAVSEA Ship Design Manager, USCG Deck or Engineering License
