Youll lead the development of the backend system architect scalable and reliable solutions and ensure the platform evolves to meet growing demands. Your technical leadership will play a crucial role in driving innovation and shaping the next generation of healthcare technology. This is a full-time fully remote position paid in USD with competitive benefits. Youll take ownership of backend development lead technical decisions and work closely with cross-functional teams to design build and scale products used by thousands of users. Responsibilities

Own the backend: design build and maintain APIs services and backend systems using Ruby on Rails.

Architect scalable solutionsto handle growth improve performance and ensure reliability.

Collaborate cross-functionallywith product design and frontend teams to deliver features end-to-end.

Integrate with third-party APIsand external services where needed.

Ship with confidence: write clean testable code perform thorough reviews and monitor production systems.

Troubleshoot and debugcomplex issues across services and infrastructure.

Contribute toengineering standards tooling and best practicesto elevate overall code quality.

Mentor junior developers and collaborate with distributed teams across time zones.

Qualifications

5+ yearsof professional software development experience.

4+ yearsof production-level Ruby on Rails experience.

Solid experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred) and background job processing (Sidekiq Resque or similar).

Strong understanding of API design RESTful services and performance optimization.

Comfortable with Git CI/CD pipelines and cloud platforms (AWS preferred).

Experience working on distributed teams and collaborating asynchronously.

Excellent communication skills in English written and verbal.

A proactive problem-solving mindset with the ability to balance speed and quality.

Bonus: experience with Elixir React or other complementary technologies.
