Senior Software Engineer (Backend / Ruby)

GROUNDFLOOR is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Backend) to join our team of insanely smart and just gosh-darn-like-able engineers. The ideal person for this role enjoys automating business processes, architecting interactions with third-party services, writing tests to ensure the reliability and robustness of our web applications. The position will primarily be focused on performing backend work, with DevOps mixed in from time to time.

We're looking for an engineer who wants to get deep into the guts of our application stack and add scalable features that support our business processes, use 3rd party APIs to automate the boring out-of-work, and capture data submitted by our users for processing.

Requirements

THIS JOB MIGHT BE FOR YOU IF:

• Understand that programming languages are tools, not ideologies, and are comfortable working in the right one for the task at hand (we use Ruby, Javascript/Vue)
• You enjoy working with people, solving prioritization and resourcing issues, and thinking about the big picture
• Agile, proactive, comfortable working with ambiguous specifications and can prioritize on the fly
• Significant experience translating product requirements into design specifications
• Interested in owning a large portion of a codebase
• You have experience with Ruby and/or Ruby on Rails
• You have experience with testing and automation
• Passionate about building great software that makes an impact on people's lives

YOUR EXPERIENCE + A FEW NICE TO HAVES:

• Demonstrated ability to work with a back end language solving real business problems
• You have a technical background and a BS or MS in a computer-related or hard science field
• Familiarity with Postgres, through active record, sequel or sql
• 5+ years experience performing back end programming tasks
• 8+ years of overall software development experience
