About the Role

Ogury are seeking a Senior Ruby Developer to join our team and take charge of new feature development, evolution, and maintenance of a critical Ruby on Rails application for the business.

As a Senior Ruby Developer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, testing, and maintaining new features and functionality for our application.

You will also be responsible for evolving our existent architecture to a more standard dedicated frontend/backend with an API-first approach in mind. You will be expected to fix bugs, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the stability and reliability of the application. You will be working with a team lead and product manager within a partially remote team of 3 developers. You will collaborate with a design team and most of the teams in Ogury.

What you will be doing

• Design, develop, test, and maintain new features and functionality in Ruby within the legacy Ruby in Rails application, consumed by applications, in collaboration with the developers team ;
• You will adapt legacy Ruby-on-Rails based web services to fit new requirements and features, in collaboration with the developers team and the Product Manager.
• Be in charge to the modernization of the legacy Ruby on Rails application to make it sustainable in the middle term: upgrading the Rails framework, upgrading dependencies, refactoring code, cleaning up dead code.
• Collaborate with other teams, such as product management, design, and quality assurance, to identify technical requirements and propose solutions to technical challenges.
• Be involved within the teams agile ceremonies such as (daily meetings, demos, retrospectives, grooming.)
• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality, consistency, and adherence to best practices and continuously improve the application monitoring, performance, scalability, and reliability.
• You will also be involved in the growth of junior developers including mentorship and coaching.

About you

• You are an experienced Software Engineer with the Ruby on Rails Technology.
• You are an experienced Software Engineer with NodeJS Technology
• Proficient in front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, knowledge in React is not essential, yet a bonus.
• Applying and propagating software design patterns and best practices.
• Comfortable with writing unit / end-to-end / integration tests, and an active problem-solver.
• Comfortable working within a global team, as well as the English language.
• Happy to work alongside junior engineers to support their growth with your mentorship and coaching capability.
