Senior Storage & Automation Engineer

Role purpose

Accelya has a great opportunity, for the right candidate, to become part of our team which supports one of the leading global software platforms of the airline industry.

You will serve as a subject matter expert to help develop, automate and mature our on-prem and cloud, enterprise storage and data protection strategies. 

The Senior Cloud Automation Engineer will also be responsible for helping to develop and document policies, standards, operational processes and to mentor junior engineers.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for maintaining effective data security strategies and controls to protect sensitive and confidential information from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction.

• Success in this role requires exceptional problem-solving skills, strong interpersonal skills with a positive attitude, the ability to articulate thoughts and ideas, and a passion for seeing them to fruition.

• Diagnosing performance and connectivity related issues.

• Implementing and executing on-prem to cloud migration tasks.

• Provides proactive support for enterprise storage and backup solutions, by ensuring all monitoring, alerting, and security standards are maintained.

• Serves as an L3 escalation for cloud storage and data protection issues.

• Document and maintain, the backup, replication, and archival cloud architecture policies in alignment with our global commitments.

• Coordinates and leads projects as required.

Knowledge, Experience & Skills

• A strong understanding of protecting workloads in VMware Cloud (VMC) on AWS.

• Must have experience with technologies such as Terraform, Ansible etc.

• Proven record of automating administration and monitoring of storage and backup systems.

• 3+ years of hands-on experience working with AWS architecture.

• 8+ years in IT with 5+ years of hands-on experience in managing modern backup/storage solutions.

• Experience with cloud archive technologies, principles, and best practices.

• Experience and a deep understanding of Storage technologies including PureStorage, NetApp, Dell/EMC VMAX, VNX, Unity and DataDomain.

• Strong knowledge of storage-related connectivity protocols and technologies (e.g., SAN, NAS, Block, NFS, SMB).

• Experience with migrating on-prem infrastructure environments to AWS. VMC on AWS a plus.
