Job Description
- Demonstrates leadership and commitment to Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ). Actively encourages and leads the HZI and contractor teams to implement and comply with project HSEQ requirements
- Ensures works within area of responsibility are executed in accordance with the contract, and conform with project time and budget requirements
- Develops, maintains and implements the Site Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management System in line with company and external certification requirements
- Intervenes in a strong and persuasive manner in HSE matters on site and ensures HSE standards are adhered to on site by all
- Advises and supports all HSE matters at all levels within the site organisation
- Ensures that risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) are reviewed with regards to HSE requirements and that work is carried out in accordance with the RAMS
- Ensures HSE hazards are eliminated or mitigated to the extent practicable
- Administers the permit to work process when required
- Acts as the main point of contact between the regulatory authorities and the project on HSE issues
- Undertakes incident investigation and reporting
- Undertakes internal inspections and audits of HSE standards on site and the work practices employed
- Liaises with other HSE professionals (both internal and external) in order to achieve a positive HSE culture
- Assists in the community elements of the project
- Assists in emergency response at site
- Ensures medical examinations (i.e. drug and alcohol testing, etc.) of all staff is carried out as appropriate on site
- Ensures that a professional and competent team of Site HSE Advisors is in place
- Manages the development and structure of the Site HSE team to ensure that the ongoing needs of the company and its strategy are met
- Undertakes site HSE inductions and provides regular HSE training / information for new employees
- Ensures the HSE content of training provided by the Company is up to date, relevant and high quality
- Maintains own level of knowledge and competency in relation to HSE management and responsibilities
- Assists where necessary with tenders and presentations to external bodies
- Keeps the Site Manager informed of all site related activities
Qualifications
- Professional Qualifications
- NEBOSH Safety Diploma (or equivalent)
- NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate or equivalent (desirable)
- Knowledge of HSE legislation, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001
- First Aid qualification
- Experience in construction or other related fields
- Valid Safety Contractors Certificate (SCC), Safepass (ROI), CSCS or CCNSG card or equivalent
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft suite applications
