Software Development Lead Engineer

DUTIES: BorgWarner Transmissions Products, LLC seeks a Software Development Lead Engineer based out of our office at 3800 Automation Avenue, Auburn Hills, MI 48326. Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the aforementioned office address. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the aforementioned office address. Note, this position requires international and domestic travel, as needed, up to 10%.

Lead all technical aspects of the software project and plan and manage the software development activities for key customer projects. Utilize technical expertise, specify and guide the team in software development by utilizing a combination of Model based design, autocode generation, and embedded c programming. Follow the BorgWarner software development process (complies to Automotive SPICE) through the software development lifecycle. Lead the software project development. Responsible for technical software project management on DriveTrain System products. Plan and manage the software development work for the assigned projects in compliance with the group's policies and processes. Define the software release development schedules and detailed release scope. Identify and analyze sources of software requirements, specify software requirements, assign requirements to releases and iterations, baseline and release software requirements. Define, design, develop and verify solutions in software releases that comply with the software requirements and the software architecture. Drive the software project team culture to meet the defined process standards. Interface with the customers as required to understand and deliver to the customer requirements. Among other duties.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related and eight years of experience in the job offered or related. Experience must include: Experience with developing software using a Model-Based toolchain; experience with C programming language for embedded systems; experience with generating efficient C source code from model-based designs; experience with model and source code debugging skills; experience with developing and verifying software to a comprehensive software process; experience working with network protocols (e.g. CAN) and associated tools; experience with Software Configuration, Release and Change Management; and experience with Root Cause Analysis. International and domestic travel required, as needed, up to 10%.
