Software Engineer L4 - iOS, Shared Client Foundations

The Role

The Shared Client Foundations team builds UI architecture and frameworks which can be leveraged by product engineers across the iOS Android TV and Web client platforms. These frameworks help UI engineers access data configure applications create server-driven UIs and understand how their clients are operating in production.

This role will be focused on iOS requiring familiarity with iOS UI architecture and frameworks . However we believe strong engineering aptitude transcends stacks and providing the opportunity to explore UI development on other platforms is a unique aspect of this role.

We’re currently building solutions with Swift on iOS and use GraphQL as our shared data access technology. We use Kotlin on Android and JavaScript/TypeScript on TV & Web.

Some of the things we’re excited to be working on currently:

• Building the ideal cross-platform data access architecture for Netflix applications

• Creating a Server Driven UI architecture and tooling which accelerates app experimentation

• Delivering frameworks to simplify feature-configuration based UI development

In this role you’ll:

• Independently scope design implement and deliver project tracks in the areas above

• Weigh business product and architectural trade-offs to influence your software designs

• Have a stunning set of teammates to draw on to deepen your iOS UI architecture expertise

• Collaborate with a broad set of client server foundational and product engineers across Netflix

• Support product engineers building the Netflix application on top of your framework solutions and supporting the application in production

All of our projects allow you to explore aspects of product development architecture and tooling.

The Team

The Shared Client Foundations team builds shared UI architecture and frameworks which power the Netflix iOS Android TV and Web applications on devices ranging from mobile phones tablets web browsers to streaming sticks cable boxes Smart TVs and game consoles.

We’re passionate about creating elegantly designed highly performant UI architectures which empower engineers to build amazing UI experiences used by millions of users across the globe. We partner closely with teams across Netflix to help us deliver solutions which make UI development efficient and enjoyable.

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family background skills location and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $100000 - $720000.
