Software Manager

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for "dynamic, results driven" individual to join as SW Engineering Group Manager (EGM) to lead a team of professional engineers within the Software Engineering department in Auburn Hills.

The manager and the team will focus on developing reusable software components for our electrical powertrain division to support BorgWarner's charging forward initiative. This team is on the forefront of engineering the latest technology electrical vehicle propulsion systems including power inverters, chargers, and DC-DC converters.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of 10-20 embedded SW Engineers, Integrators, and Requirements Engineers, and other SW related competencies in Auburn Hills, MI.
• Works within a global team structure to maximize global platform reuse.
• Leads communication and escalation of priority topics to upper management in coordination with internal stakeholders like: engineering, integration, software quality, etc.
• Executes solid root-cause analysis with the ability to identify and predict possible deviations related to product architecture- or any other technical change.
• Provide technical direction, conduct regular technical reviews and take appropriate corrective actions.
• Proactively evaluates design and engineering decisions, making sure they don't cause any gap in correlation with the program scope.
• Fosters strong cross-functional partnerships and can effectively prioritize workload demands to meet project deadlines.
• Manages training and provides coaching to team members and supports workload planning and deliverables to the projects.
• Resource management/recruitment, mentoring/coaching/career development, and performance evaluation. Responsible for project deliverables and customer satisfaction - Schedule, Risks, Quality, and project commitments.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Computer engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
• 10-15 years of overall experience, preferably in automotive embedded software development.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in leading and managing software development programs is preferred. Prior Experience with Platform Software development is a plus.
• Experience in driving best practices in SW development process through root cause analysis.
• Strong experience in process-oriented SW engineering per ASPICE or ISO26262.
• Functional safety background would be a big plus (Steering, Brakes, Powertrain).
• Experience using industry standard development tools - e.g. tool-chains, IDEs, configuration management etc. such as Polarion, JIRA, BitBucket, etc
• Experience in Low-level drivers software Development (HWIO/CDD), Validation, Debugging & Troubleshooting would be preferrable.
• Experience bringing integrated software/hardware products from the early development phase to production.
• Ability to travel up to 10% within the U.S. and internationally.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
