Staff Accountant

Job Summary: TrendHR is hiring a Staff Accountant for a well known company in the Rockwall area. This person will ensure compliance with federal, state and local agencies and assist accounting team with month end tasks to timely provide financial statements. This position requires full comprehension of accounting principles and payroll tax knowledge with high sense of urgency to be successful. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Reconcile and submit weekly, monthly, quarterly, federal, state and local taxes within deadline. • Accurately and timely prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, annual, W2 - filings with various agencies. • Monitor for new states and ensure timely set ups and closers are complete. • Reconcile payroll software with agencies and make appropriate adjustments to bill/credit back to client/employee timely. • Monitor and research notices and make timely tax adjustments to ensure appropriate bill/credit back to client/employee. • Identify opportunities for improvement and internal controls • Research new state jurisdiction to ensure compliance. • Maintain PEO license requirements. • Assist with month end tasks such as bank reconciliations, journal entries, prepaids, accrued examples and assist researching reconciliation discrepancies. • Prepare monthly financials and assist with questions. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION • Bachelor’s degree in accounting • At least 2 years of accounting experience, preferably with payroll tax background in various states SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS • Proficient with Microsoft Excel • Familiar with QuickBooks • Ability to work in a team environment • Disciplined to meet deadlines • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations • Attention to detail • Written and verbal communication especially with external agencies If this sounds like you, APPLY NOW!!
