Staff Backend Engineer - Playbooks

As the technical lead for the Playbooks team, you will be responsible for understanding how our playbooks execute, defining a more performant and reliable system, and working with Product to deliver Playbook features that are valuable to our customers. You will also be expected to engage with the Tech Leads team who are looking for ways to make the development and deployment of Vitally easier and faster. You will be reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager of Productivity at Vitally.

Responsibilities

• Understanding Playbooks execution and scaling the design to be more performant and reliable as we grow
• Tune database queries so they are more performant and don't cause strain on our databases (DBA experience is helpful here)
• Working with Product and Design to deliver features that help automate workflows in Vitally
• Mentoring a team of engineers at various levels and providing review input for your team
• Working with the Core Platform team to understand how your systems are impacting the reliability of the services

Requirements

• Hands on experience in Javascript, Node.js, Typescript, React, Postgres and Bull MQ (or similar)
• Experience architecting systems for high load and reliability
• Experience tuning database queries
• Experience mentoring engineers & contributing across the organization
• Experience working with Product and Design on new features helping them to understand the limitations of our code and opportunistic things we can do to help our customers be more productive
• Working on a large scale system under load
