STAFF IS ENGINEER 9657- Linux Systems Administrator- ESXi/Storage

Duties/Responsibilities:

Experience: 8-12 Years only

• Linux server administration and configuration

• Design, implement, and support VMware production, development, test, and DR environments

• Design, implement, and improve monitoring and alerting of Data Center infrastructure

• Dell storage provisioning and support

• Plan, document, and communicate all changes to server hardware and software

• Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware and software

• Design, implement, and support Linux server production, dev/test, and DR environments

• Manage system infrastructure patch releases, including enhancements to current system functionality

• Create, maintain, and update platform documentation and standard operating procedures

• Assess system performance, provide capacity planning, and drive VMware and server OS evolution and standardization using ITIL and automation where possible

• Assess business needs to determine appropriate server hardware and software solutions

• Participate in establishing and testing disaster recovery policies and procedures; complete backup/restores; maintain disaster recovery documentation

• Respond to customer service requests and provide production support coverage

• Provide 7x24 support to VMware and Linux servers on an On-Call rotation

• Diagnose server and operational problems and develop effective solutions

• Lead root cause analysis with incident and problem management for servers

• Work with cross-functional global IT resources and business groups to enhance core systems experience

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent work experience required

• Over 8+ years of experience in the IT field

• More than 5 years of experience in VMware 5.x or higher system administration

• Over 5 years of experience in Linux Enterprise server administration

• At least 3 years of production experience with ESXi host clusters on EMC storage

• Extensive experience in writing Shell Scripts/programs using Bourne, Korn, Bash, Perl, and AWK

• Experience with Kubernetes and Docker containers

• Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN

• Experience with SAN/NAS (Dell) is a plus

• Strong working knowledge of iSCSI is highly desirable

• Experience with Dell Blade servers

• Working knowledge of network switches, routers, firewalls, and network protocols

• Ability to make independent decisions and solve problems

• Ability to thrive in a cross-functional matrix environment

• Ability to provide 24/7 mission-critical support on demand

• ITIL certification is desired
