Job Description
The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for initial and final prescription verification of all prescriptions. In addition, the pharmacist provides counseling and superior customer service to all patients and prescribers. The Staff Pharmacist supervises technicians and provides a supportive environment for the best patient care. This role involves supervising technicians and providing final quality checks, essential for maintaining the high standards of Belmar Pharmacy. The Staff Pharmacist will support Belmar pharmacy management in carrying out the mission and vision of the pharmacy.
Performs initial verification including DUR on all new prescriptions
Performs final verification as the final quality check on all prescriptions
Checks the state PDMP when required
Supervise technicians
Provides consultation to patients and providers
Ensures compliance with company Policies and Procedures
Follows all state and federal laws
Familiar with USP 795, 797, 800 standards
Stays current on the Belmar Pharma formulary items and compounding process
Assist with technician duties in various departments, including, data entry, dispensing and prescription pick up
Maintain compliance with Company patient confidentiality requirements
Ability to meet established pharmacy efficiency metrics
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks on time in a fast-paced and changing environment
Ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment
Demonstrates leadership by example in projecting a positive attitude
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may substitute.
Registered Pharmacist with a license active and in good standing (in the state hired)
Ability to obtain and maintain additional state licenses required by the pharmacy
Must be able to read, understand SOPs and all guidelines as they relate to the process
Good computer skills (data entry, Microsoft Office products)
Good math skills are essential
Strong organizational, attention to detail and follow-through skills
Work in a variety of positions and locations such as sitting, standing, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and walking for prolonged periods of time
Potential exposure to chemicals used in the preparation of compounds (some chemicals are classified as toxic and special safety precautions must be taken when working with the chemicals)
Must be able to use necessary equipment such as computers, scanners, phone/headset, or other technology devices as assigned
Must be able to wear required compounding safety equipment for long periods of time when required
