This is a full-time, salaried Leadership position located at our Scripps Memorial campus in La Jolla. This position will require the availability to work a varied shift (start time will be dependent upon the department's need including morning and evening shifts) and a varied schedule including weekends.

The Supervisor, Chef coordinates the operational systems for Food and Nutrition Services including menu planning, food ordering, operations, safety and overall department function. Oversees, coordinates, and supervises the operations of the Food and Nutrition Services to include Patient Meal Service/ Cafeteria/Catering, hot and cold food production, emergency meal preparation, purchasing, inventory management and control, marketing and meal presentation standards. Develops recipes and implements menus in all areas of the department ensuring that sanitation, nutrition and financial parameters are met.

Required Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• ServSafe Manager Food Protection Certification
• Culinary Certificate or equivalent experience in sanitation, culinary techniques, and management
• Active CA Drivers License
• One year of culinary training.
• Three years of culinary experience in planning, developing and implementing recipes and menus, one of which with leadership responsibilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, complex problem solving, team development, strategic planning and systems planning/development.
• Knowledge of computer word processing and spreadsheets.
• Excellent Customer Service.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in a healthcare setting
• Formal culinary cooking education
• Proficiency in Joint Commission, Title XXII, HACCP, FDA Food Code and other applicable regulatory requirements with ability to translate into practice.

Position Pay Range: $37.15-$53.97/hour
