The SVP of Data Foundation, Strategy & Analytics is a key member of the CIO staff and Zayo Senior Leadership Team (SLT), working across a broad set of business and technology stakeholders to define, design and execute the business’s overall data strategy.

This role oversees a range of data-related functions that may include data management, ensuring data quality and creating data strategy. This key role is also responsible for data analytics and business intelligence, and the process of drawing valuable insights from data. This senior executive is responsible for the utilization and governance of data across the organization and will understand the strategy and direction of the business, with a focus on how to underpin that strategy and direction with data.

This is a highly collaborative role that works with all enterprise functions and business units in developing new data driven operating models, ensuring the necessary data pipelines support platform outcomes and experiences.

Responsibilities Include:

• Data quality, data governance, master data management, information strategy, data science, and business analytics.

• Governance - Advising on, monitoring, and governing enterprise data.

• Operation - Enabling data usability, availability, and efficiency.

• Innovation - Driving enterprise digital transformation innovation, cost reduction, and revenue generation.

• Analytics - Supporting analytics and reporting on products, customers, operations, and markets

• Maintaining accountability for the structure and integrity of information that is maintained within enterprise systems and platforms.

• Defining the vision, strategy, principles and processes that guide the purchase, design, and deployment of data platform technology, assuring technology solutions meet business requirements while aligning with long-term enterprise architectural goals.

• Partnering with key stakeholders to develop, communicate, and own a unified strategy and business plan articulating the expected business outcomes and requirements inclusive of: an execution roadmap; enterprise data governance strategy; data security; advanced AI strategies; and data integration. 

• Develop strong customer intimacy across the organization, leading the data foundation team through the development of long-term roadmaps for all data and information. 

• Drive accountability by establishing a robust Data & Analytics Governance and measurement framework. 

• Lead the creation of a capability to assure the definition, development and maintenance of organizational data and information architecture standards and principles, establishing data architecture standards and methodologies, and strengthening the network effect of sharing data across the enterprise.

• Lead the combination of data, including quality and safety, with other data domains to express the value proposition of the organization.

• Introduce and lead the advancement of centralized analytics and artificial intelligence activity (data science). 

• Lead the monitoring, refinement and reporting on the performance of data management systems and execute on operational plans to merge legacy, acquired or new systems with existing data foundation environments and structures. 

• Implement technical architecture to deliver Data Ingestion framework, Data Persistence, Access, Delivery, Management and Security, Information Portal, Analytics workbench and Data Science Lab.

• Lead the migration from an on-prem to cloud environment, developing a multi-cloud strategy, effectively delivering a hybrid architecture balancing costs and performance

• Works with ETL team to ensure a reliable and accurate Data Warehouse with an emphasis on scalability, data integrity, usability and performance

• Partners with other peers regionally, nationally and internationally to discover, propose and deploy best-in-class solutions.

• Lead the management and compliance with IT Governance related to master data management and the enforcement of data governance rules.

Preferred Skills and Abilities 

• Data scientist or technologist background

• Demonstrated ability to evangelize and communicate a data vision as a critical part of growth strategy: creating strategic data access policies; leading the design of analytics infrastructure; developing and executing a central data strategy to drive revenue; overseeing data governance, data investment and partnerships; and strategizing with C-level colleagues.

• Highly motivated, experienced innovators who have produced tangible results, as well as senior-level leadership over data and/or analytics departments for seven or more years

• Ability to translate short and long-range strategic plans for enterprise-wide data management into design and implementation of current and future applications and systems

• Experience in telecommunications preferred

• Proven track record of successfully managing organizations through change and transformation

• Extensive experience in high level systems planning, design, development, maintenance and troubleshooting with a track record of accomplishment in large, complex, client/server based systems.

• Highly developed negotiation, facilitation and influencing skills.

• Excellent communication skills to both technical and non-technical audiences

• Strong financial acumen and understanding of IT Total Cost of Ownership

Requirements

• Deep technical understanding of databases; data technology; ETL and data transformation; master data management; reporting, analytics, domain business knowledge; and applied data science

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or similar field

• Minimum 15 years of experience in information technology, experience in application, and data analytics, to include at least 8 years of leadership experience in a complex information technology organization

• Broad experience across all areas of large scale, enterprise technology platforms

• Base salary range for CO $230,000 -$275,000
