General Summary

The Systems Administrator supports, manages, and ensures the operating capability of System level operational software. This includes IBM System I, Bartender, SQL, and Oracle databases and supporting protocols. This role ensures services are available for all hours of operation. Individual must maintain adequate knowledge of existing hardware and software in use to maximize the efficiency of the resources and users' utilization of them.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Act as the Situation Manager to Identify and Repair unplanned events which adversely affect the system or computing environment.
• Act as a Project manager regarding system setup and maintenance operation and design. Also to interface with other departments to facilitate timely completion of these tasks
• Perform DBA activities in support of Infrastructure, MIS, and SCM systems.
  • This includes back-and-restore design, implementation, and operation.
  • Provide incite into optimizations of the platforms (Query analysis and procedure optimization).
• Add and maintain users' application access, ensuring security, and maintaining their configurations are within standards. Also, to assist in providing solutions to problems reported by users.
• Understanding and support of industry security policies are required. Requirements can include creating, documenting, and implementing these policies.
• Investigate, recommend, and install enhancements and operating procedures that regulate system availability. Participate in team meetings, providing input suggestions, and prepare minutes of discussion items.
• Support of the Warehouse Printing operations is required. Knowledge of printer configurations and Bartender software technologies is required.
• Provide direction to Vendors or Contractors.
• Perform other job-related responsibilities and duties as may be assigned as demand requires.
• Manage and maintain Backup operations for both Database and VMware infrastructures.
• General knowledge of network monitoring and the ability to support reporting on key systems (network, DB, other) using industry-standard tools (PRTG and other).
• Ensure IBM System I hardware, operating system, and software are maintained to recent release levels.

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
• 3+ years' work experience in a Client/Server environment.
• DBA experience, Oracle certification, or MSSQL.
• Prior experience supporting, implementing, and/or administering MS SQL, MS-PBI, IBM System i.
• Knowledge of security principles (CSC or other) and their implementation.
• Knowledge of manufacturing warehouse printing solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Preferred Certifications: Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE); Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA); Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
• Five+ years of experience supporting, implementing, and/or administering enterprise technology solutions (MS-PBI, Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL, Azure, AWS).
