Team Lead role (BE - Java focus)

Your Role and Responsibilities
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Team Lead to join our Data and AI Development team. You will work as part of the Data and AI Development team with a focus on the following key responsibilities:

• Lead a team of Back-End engineers working on several services within IBM data governance software (IBM Knowledge Catalog).
• Develop and grow your team members.
• Be hands-on working on features.
• Continuously work to keep your team focused and productive.
• Partner with your Product counterparty and negotiate agree and plan the team scope and priorities.
• Partner with Architecture and other engineers to discuss agree and deliver out target architecture.
• Ensure delivery is done according to commitments (time scope and quality) by monitoring progress tracking dependencies removing blockers for team members and managing risks.
• Provide upline managers with clear status on activities decisions and risks.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• 5 – 8 years of proven experience working in complex systems in an enterprise context
• Proven exposure to modern engineering practices (e.g. test automation CI/CD etc.)
• 2+ years of experience in people management and delivery coordination.
• Strong technical background in Java and Spring Boot preferably in complex systems.
• Good organizational and analytical skills.
• Exposure to agile software development practices.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to lead and drive collaboration within teams and across IBM.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Experience working in Scrum and/or Kanban practices.
• Experience building a SaaS product.
• Experience organizing on-call rota schemes and providing support to Production.
• Experience with technologies that are part of our tech stack: Java 11 / 17 Spring Boot ActiveMQ-Artemis React 16+ JavaScript TypeScript Maven Git Docker Kubernetes and Openshift.
• Experience working in collaborative and globally distributed environment.
• Leading organizational transformation both technically and organizationally.
